Oscar winner Robin Williams who underwent a heart surgery on March 13 is on the road to recovery and is expected to be doing completely alright in the next two months. This means the 57-year old would soon resume his comedy tour “Weapons of Self-Destruction” which was postponed in view of the operation. Before being transferred to Cleveland where he went under the knife, he received treatment at the University of Miami. The surgery was done after he complained of difficulty in breathing. The Hollywood actor has had his aortic valve replaced, mitral valve fixed and the abnormality of his heart beats corrected through the procedure which lasted for three and a half hours.
Surgeon A. Marc Gillinov said:
“Mr. Williams’ operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery.”
“His heart is strong and he will have normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he’ll be able to do.”
The comedian is extremely pleased with the treatment and dedication demonstrated by the professionals of both University of Miami Hospital and ultimately Cleveland Clinic. In a statement to the Us, he said: “I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and dedication while I was in their care. I must also thank all the people who have expressed their love and concern for me. I have been deeply touched by their support.” The actor who is recuperating is excited about his ventures and is even considering the next leg of the tours ‘Weapons of Self-Destruction and Reconstruction!’“
The UK reality TV star Jade Goody who was diagnosed with cervical cancer while on the Indian version of Big Brother passed away at 3.14 am in her sleep. She is survived by her two sons, Bobby, 5, and Freddy, 4, from her previous marriage and co-star of Big Brother / husband, Jack Tweed. The media has a full coverage of complete details of her dying life. Her battle with cancer was made very public and her considerable help in creating awareness of the illness is greatly appreciated. The publicity in fact had led to a 20 percent rise in the number of women taking up the smear test and thousands of women came forward seeking advice on how to prevent the disease.
Jade’s funeral had been planned out days before her death and Goody wanted it to be a big celebration as it was her final farewell to the world. Jade’s mother, Jackiey Budden who finds it too difficult to cope with her death said; “My beautiful daughter is at peace, she was a very, very brave girl. And she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life — full on, with a lot of courage.”
Jade Goody was in limelight since 2002 when she participated in the British version of Big Brother but her career suffered in 2007 when she made those racist remarks on Shilpa Shetty calling her “Shilpa Poppadom.” However, she reconciled with Shilpa and was there in India for the show but had to return to London on knowing that she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Jade was married in February in a lavish ceremony after her boy friend proposed to her in hospital and she sold the rights of her wedding ceremony to the media for one million pounds which money she has reserved for her two sons. Jade and her two sons were christened on March 7 and her publicist Clifford reported that she wanted the christening so her sons “know about Jesus and hopefully in the years ahead they’ll be able to keep in touch with (her) through Jesus.”
After Richardson’s hospitalization in New York where her immediate family gathered to be there by her side, the complications of the brain injury ended the actress’ life leaving the family totally devastated at the sudden tragic episode. The family who needs privacy during this difficult time is distressed and expresses their deep sense of gratitude to people for their love, prayers and support. According to the Daily News, experts hold that the actress suffered from epidural hematoma, a condition which translates as bleeding between the brain and the skull. Meryl Streep, author Joan Didion and actress Lauren Bacall were among those who paid their respects.

Natasha Richardson was with her two sons taking ski lessons when all of a sudden she had a brain injury. Although some reports say she is brain dead and other report declares she has a brain swelling, we do not know the truth. Nothing can be said to affirm the accuracy of the hospital statements now. Her two sons Neeson, Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12 were with her and it is believed that she didn’t wear her helmet during the private ski lesson. Shortly after the lesson, she seemed pretty normal and on her way to her room she was laughing and joking. An hour later Natasha suffered from a headache and went to the hospital, all this while she did not loose her consciousness.
Intially, she was taken to Centre Hospitalier Laurentien in Quebec which was close to the Toni ski resort. At about 5 p.m., she was shifted to Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. Her actor husband, Liam Neeson who was shooting at Toronto left the set immediately to fly to Montreal where his wife was hospitalized. Later, the two left the hospital in an ambulance to board a private flight back to New York. Some reports claim she has been taken off from life support.
The British-born actress who is 45 years old is the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave who was also an English actress known for her big screen and stage appearances. Natasha’s father is the late director-producer Tony Richardson and her sister was a notable actress as well. Natasha Richardson and her husband Liam Neeson co-starred in the famous ‘Nell’ in 1994.
Michael Jackson’s summer concerts is around the corner and the sale of tickets have been completed in no time. About one million tickets for the 50 live dates at London’s O2 arena have been sold out to eager fans in a matter of four hours. Michael Jackson’s “This is it” begins on 8 July and will stretch up to 50 nights, each night symbolizing each year in Jackson’s life. The concert is expected to extend up to 2010. Initially only 10 London gigs were planned but on seeing the overwhelming response more were added. The singer is ecstatic about the response and the promoters are even more happy. As Randy Phillips, of promoters AEG Live speaks up “Not only are these concerts unparalleled, these records have never been broken, we knew this was show business history, but this is a cultural phenomenon”.
The ticket sale which began on Friday 13th March had a demand which was described as unprecedented. 750,000 people are the fortunate ones who would see King of Pop take the stage at London’s O2 Arena. The tickets were sold at an incredible rate of 40,000 tickets an hour, 650 tickets per minute, 11 per second! Ayesha Obi was first in line to get the ticket. She spent two whole days to get it and exclaims that it was worth the wait. This probably could be the last show of Michael Jackson and so he wants to make the most of it by adding some new music. He’s also working out a new way of offering that new music to his audience. Technical effects that have never been used before would be employed.
Howard K. Stern and two doctors are charged for supplying drugs to Anna Nicole Smith. On February 8th, 2007, Anna Nicole Smith was only 39 when she died as a result of an overdose prescription of drugs. Her husband had got her hooked up to drugs all for the sake of damn money. At the time of her death, some prescriptions were found both in her name as well as her ex-boyfriend and longtime lawyer. Along with him Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich are also booked on account of eight felony counts for prescribing medication for a three year period. Last month, the Drug Enforcement Agency officials raided the office of the three of them. I was wondering how Howard was never covered under the investigation. Anyway better now than never.
Prior to her death on February 5, 2008, Anna checked in at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Her temperature reached 104 degrees. Her attorney Ron Rale reported that she had flu-like symptoms few days before she died. It was also stated that she was to take an ice bath when her fever reached 105 degrees.
California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown has given his statement: “These individuals repeatedly and excessively furnished thousands of prescription pills to Anna Nicole Smith, often for no legitimate medical purpose.” Eroshevich has already given her response through her attorney, Braun. He has admitted that the psychiatrist had given prescriptions under fictitious names but it was done solely for privacy reasons and not out of wrong intentions. Further, it was added that everything was done on her part to safeguard the patient.
According to TMZ, Chris Brown and Rihanna were together for a recording session at a Santa Monica, Calif., recording studio. The music producer, Polow da Don felt that the choice of the two for the love duet was ideal as it was the perfect timing to capitalize on their “heightened emotions.” At first, the lyrics was completed and it was decided that Rihanna would make a sole performance. But later, Polow da Don felt the need for the track to be completed as a duet. The song centres around a couple and all the issues they must overcome. Sources associated with the TMZ reported that “the feeling in the room was pure love.” The project has been going on for the past couple of days and the disc is expected to be released sometime during fall.
Following the alleged drama where Rihanna was brutally beaten up, the 21-year old turned down quiet a number of requests to perform until recently when she agreed to do this duet. Meanwhile, TMZ has also spilled the beans about the woman who sparked off the squabbling. Tina Davis, the 40-year old with whom Brown had been formerly having a relationship left a text message on Brown’s mobile. The message that talked about the two meeting up later made Rihanna’s gorge rise. The music producer and friend of the couple, Adonis Shropshire was the only one who spoke up. He said; ““You have to remember, she’s a kid still, So with anybody who goes through something in the world, you have to bring yourself out of it…I guess her refuge is her music.”
Celebrities make headlines for all the wrong reasons. So guess it’s time to highlight the positives of the young pop princess, Britney Spears who has used her fame well. Spears paid a visit to Miami’s Children’s hospital to uplift the spirits of 40 sick children. She just wanted to allot some time comforting these children and making them feel better which she has done putting aside her preparations for the show.
Hospital spokesperson Cristene Martinez told People: “She took pictures with the kids and gave them autographed pictures. The kids were so excited to meet Britney, and having her here was a great distraction for them.” She has also donated $100,000 to the hospital’s Big Apple Circus Clown Care program organized at 19 leading pediatric facilities across the United States for the purpose of sending medically trained professionals on a regular basis in clowns’ costumes to the hospital and cheer up the kids. Pediatric radiologist Ricardo Restrepo and Lee Schrager, director of media for Southern Wine & Spirits of America took care of the arrangements to have Spears stop by at their hospital.
A website RadarOnline.com said that Spears who was accompanied by her dad Jamie Spears, was with children for only 10 minutes during which she barely spoke anything except ’say cheese’ for the photo session. And soon after on Women’s Day, she did her show at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
The Circus tour begins. It was really worth the long wait. Britney had launched her tour on the night of March 3rd in New Orleans and it was well-received by both critics and fans alike. The duration of the show was approximately two and a half hours and about 30-45 minutes was reserved for the opening act of The Pussycat Dolls who would accompany Britney throughout the tour. Hits such as “Don’t Cha,” “When I Grow Up” and “Bottle Pop” were part of the 30-45 minutes performance given by them.
It was indeed a glorious sight to watch the pop princess, Britney descend from the ceiling and give an astounding performance of her title track of the Circus album. Wearing the dress of a ring master, she was joined by Jugglers, clowns, ninjas and aerial acrobats. The audience were spellbound by her performance which included songs like “Baby One More Time,” “Piece of Me” and “Gimme More”. For most part, Britney was lip syncing and never spoke to the crowd during the performance until the end of the show when she said “Thank you New Orleans, I love u guys. Did y’all have a good time? Thank you so much.”
Her tour comprises a schedule of 25 dates and the pop diva has been facing trouble with her ex-husband Kevin Federline who had been given pretty penny to join the singer along with her sons. Kevin who had promised the singer to be with her during the dress rehearsal on Monday didn’t show up. Instead, he had been to the Harrah’s Casino enjoying the night with three of his friends.
It’s four years since the split up, she’s having an ecstatic relationship with John Mayer but the media is still harping on the subject of Jennifer’s divorce from Brad Pitt. The 40 year old actress who is being asked about her divorce the nth time speaks to the UK edition of Elle saying; “No matter what I say, things will always be taken out of context and misinterpreted, will always be turned around to make it seem as though I won’t let something go, or that I just keep talking about it over and over.”
“I don’t owe anybody anything. I don’t owe anybody my side of the story. There are no sides! There is no bad guy and there is no good guy. There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story. It’s just not the case.”
As for her diet, she says that burgers and chips are a no-no right now as they wouldn’t keep her in shape which is greatly needed for the roles she is being offered.
Her latest revelation is that of her fancy to action roles. Aniston who has been doing lot of romantic comedies is offered funny, quirky, pretty roles as described by her. She says I’d love to do an action movie. James Bond! Glamour! Daniel Craig!
